Change of plans - July 4th, 2023

It’s been a busy five weeks, but July 4th provided a much-needed break from camp work and life.

We returned home for a few days to rest and finish recording six songs we are working on for LifeWay.

Our plan for the start of the week was to visit some friends in Cincinnati and celebrate the 4th together.

Unfortunately, our host got sick before we arrived.

We had also already offered our home in Nashville to friends with family visiting. That left us with one option: return to our “camp house” for the holiday.

We’re sad our plans fell through, but we had a great time together anyway.

On the evening of the fourth, we headed downtown for a festival only to find it was already over.

Ha!

The silver lining was the fact that the town was empty. Not a soul in sight.

This made for some pretty epic family picture time. When else can you take pictures in the middle of the road?

Later in the evening, we joined our camp staff family for lawn games and fireworks.

We talked about this in our last post, but we love how these staffers welcome our kids and pull them into whatever they’re doing.

The plans changed, but we still made some core memories, took pictures, and spent time with people we love.

A new cycle of camp starts up again on Thursday the 6th. We’ve got three weeks left, and we’re feeling rested and ready to jump back into serving the kids and leaders joining us here in July.
