As For Me

From what I’ve observed, it doesn’t seem our modern instinct is to derive comfort from Psalm 2. This psalm often reveals our resentment and resistance to God’s divine and ultimate authority.

Sadly, that resistance within us is also why we tend to miss out on the peace offered by this Psalm.

Most of us have felt the shaking, the shifting, the raging in our world, and it’s terrifying. But all this unraveling has a way of waking us up and asking, “Who else would we want to rule and reign? Who else is worthy? Who else is good?“

What I love most about the song As For Me is how it reminds us that there is a comfort and peace in joyfully resting in God’s rule and reign.

When I heard this song for the first time, I experienced the Lord turning my “mourning into dancing.” I love and deeply appreciate how Christy and Nathan remind us that we can have joyful confidence amid the chaos around us because we belong to the God who rules over all. And we can trust that He will redeem all the nations of the earth and give them to King Jesus as His heritage.

Emily and I are suckers for songs that draw out the essence of what God is saying to us through His Word. As For Me is such a song, and it’s been a source of joy and inspiration in our home for a few weeks now.
