Camp, Recording, and Drummer Boys

This week we are in the thick of camp-life here at Centrikid.

Yes, this is an image from last year. We don’t yet have any photos of us leading this year. Maybe we’ll acquire some at a later time

We affectionately call Campbellsville University our "summer home." As I'm writing, we just started our third full week of camp. We helped lead worship for training week (staffer training) before camp officially started, so technically, we are on our fourth week of camp life. In total, we are scheduled to do nine weeks of camp this summer.

There are a few reasons why we love the Campbellsville location.

Reason #1

We see many churches and leaders that have become family over the years. My math is a bit fuzzy, but this is the ninth year of leading for Centrikid camps. We've been planted here at Campbellsville for most of our nine years leading for Centrikid. That means we've seen the same churches and leaders year after year, AND we've had the joy of visiting and singing at several of these churches throughout the years.

Reason #2

Campbellsville is gracious enough to let us bring our little pup, Malachi (we call him "Chi"). I promise you he is a dog, though he greatly resembles a bunny. We simply couldn't commit to a summer of camp without our 6th family member, so we are incredibly grateful that Campbellsville let him join us.

Reason #3

We are only a couple of hours away from home. It means we get to head home on the weekends and attend our home church, Immanuel Nashville. It's also a blessing because we are in the middle of producing nine songs for LifeWay's kid's curriculum. Emily and Judah spent last Friday and Saturday in the studio working on these projects with our producer friend Noe.

Our oldest, Judah, is attending Centrikid this week as a camper. After being a part of the yellow team for the last 5+ years, he has officially graduated to the green team this year. For those who don't know, the yellow team is the 3rd graders. The staffers have graciously let Judah be a "super yellow teamer" since he was 4-5, but this ten-year-old has officially finished the fourth grade and is moving on up. June (our five-year-old) is now the"super yellow teamer" of the family.

Before long, Judah just might be playing drums for us at future events and camps. If you missed our post online, here is a video of Judah playing this year's camp theme song with us during one of our rehearsals.

If you think about us this summer, please pray that the Lord will continue to give us strength and energy to minister here at camp.

We love leading worship, but we also feel that a big part of our ministry here is discipling our young team of players, investing in the staffers, and loving on the church leaders.

The Lord is with us, and we are encouraged by how the summer is going so far.
