Mississippi & Homeschool

We spent a special weekend in Mississippi at First Baptist Church Greenville this past weekend. Our dear friend in ministry, Steve Hamrick, invited us to join them this past Sunday for worship and a concert. We‘ve known Steve for over eight years and have had many chances to partner with him over the years. It was a special treat for us to lead our song “Spirit Speak” alongside the choir.

Sunday night, we shared more of our songs before Britt Williamson shared a powerful message from Hebrews 11. Britt is the pastor of First Baptist Church Rowling Fork. If you’ve kept up with the weather news, you might already know that Rowling Fork experienced immense devastation over the past year due to a horrific tornado that leveled their town.

While we heard Britt preaching from the book of Hebrews and sharing testimony after testimony of God’s faithfulness in the midst of much personal suffering and what it means to truly have hope in Christ in the midst of and despite our current circumstances, I leaned over from my seat o see Jonathan writing this in his sermon notes:

“When I sit and listen to a Christ follower who has suffered, endured, and yet they hum with a humble radiance. I gain a sudden sense that I am sitting with royalty.”

“When I sit and listen to a Christ follower who has suffered, endured, and yet they hum with a humble radiance. I gain a sudden sense that I am sitting with royalty.”

Earlier that evening, we were led to share our song “The Best Thing,” we couldn’t have been more humbled and grateful for how the Lord worked in it all.

We made it back home after a late-night drive, and the past few days have been full of resting, resetting, and planning for all we hope to cultivate in our family, homeschool, and ministry this Fall.

The kids had their first official homeschool day and couldn’t have been more excited to open their new books. Judah is pumped about 5th-grade math, June is taking off with reading, and Milo is close behind her, shocking us all with his letters and numbers memorized (the perks of absorbing everything June learned last year)!
